Why the UK?
Made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the UK has a population of over 60 million and is full of contrasts. Wherever you decide to settle you will find a variety of landscapes and wonderfully diverse cultures.
The UK has a wealth of natural and historical heritage, stunning scenery and cosmopolitan cities which offer a vast range of attractions and activities; it's no wonder the UK is ranked as the sixth major tourist destination in the world!
The capital city, London, needs little introduction. This vibrant, multi-cultural capital is full of history, heritage and culture, yet one of the most fast-moving, cosmopolitan cities on the planet. London is also the world's largest financial centre.
With the fifth-largest economy in the world, the UK is one of the strongest economies in Europe - inflation, interest rates, and unemployment remain low.
England
England is a country of impressive diversity and variety, divided into nine distinct regions - each with its own unique personality for things to do and places to see. From the rolling hills of the Cotswolds and bustling city life of Manchester to the charms of sleepy Cornish villages and dramatic coastal splendour of the North East.
Scotland
Scotland is everything you imagine – whisky, golf, romance of the clans and a wealth of castles and historic sites. The Highlands area is one of the last wildernesses in Europe.
There are some things that are uniquely Scottish, such as Highland Games, but there's no single element that defines the country. Rather, it's a subtle blend of many different ingredients that have been added to the mix down through the centuries.
Scotland's extraordinary people, the rich diversity of her arts and culture, and the many other features found around the country have produced a nation that treasures its past and keenly anticipates its future.
Wales
Wales is different from other parts of the UK.
First there’s our language: it’s one of the oldest in Europe, spoken fluently by about one in five of the population. Although we all speak English as well, Welsh is a thriving mainstay of our way of life.
Then there’s the landscape. Wales has 3 National Parks and 5 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, all part of a landscape that offers opportunities for all kinds of activities. Walking, cycling, climbing, golf, mountain biking and paragliding are just the beginning of the list.
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland is renowned for its friendly people and natural beauty. Our activities and attractions bring together these qualities in a great package of things to do throughout the region. You can cruise in style in the Fermanagh Lakelands, follow the high roads through the Mournes or cycle casually around the Causeway Coast.
Vibrant cities with shopping, nightlife and festivals, outdoor activities, fabulous food and unspoilt retreats where you can unwind, relax and recharge; Northern Ireland has it all!
